Thiago Trad & Batuq Jazz

In this project, Thiago Trad performs with two other instrumentalists from the city where the performance takes place. The concept is for each show to be a unique encounter, bringing originality to the performances, connecting musicians and the audience in a shared vibration. The sound universe created by the beats crafted by Thiago Trad results in organic music that ranges from jazz to rock, with an experimental, visceral, and authentic approach. The musician brings to his repertoire beats rooted in Afro-Brazilian culture, connected with universal music. Ijexá, Cabila, Vassi, samba de roda, baião, and frevo are some of the rhythms that guide the music, which is created in real-time from the encounter between the musicians on stage.

Bahia Experimental

"Bahia Experimental: A Contemporary Vision of Creation and Collective Improvisation."

This is a concept that Trad has been developing over the past 10 years through in-loco research with different musical languages, such as Soundpainting (Walter Thompson), Conduction (Butch Morris), percussion with passwords (Santiago Vazquez), the UPB method (Letieres Leite), and Música do Círculo (Zuza Gonçalves, Pedro Consorte, Ronaldo Crispim). These are some of the references that are part of the musician’s research. Over 300 musicians have already participated in Bahia Experimental, with numerous workshops, shows, and jam sessions held over the years, connecting young and experienced artists through music. This work has been bearing fruit by professionalizing young musicians while keeping experienced musicians active and in contact with the youth.
